Coastal Character: Little Bay Boards Lands at Blue Star Barns
In November 2025, Little Bay Boards founder and lead artisan Jason Thelen took a drive down to the scenic shores of Saugatuck. The mission? A creative collaboration with Joe at Blue Star Barns, an establishment already known for its incredible character and local charm.
We are thrilled to announce that a Little Bay Board paddleboard has found a new home on their walls as part of our “Eye Candy” program—bringing a piece of Northern Michigan craftsmanship to the heart of Saugatuck.
The Centerpiece: A 10-Foot Work of Art
This isn’t just a paddleboard; it’s a masterclass in functional art. Stretching 10 feet long, this hollow wood board was meticulously handcrafted using locally grown Michigan white cedar. The natural grain of the cedar provides a warm, organic texture that only real wood can offer.
The showstopper, however, is the translucent “mermaid” pattern running down the center. This intricate detail catches the light, mimicking the shimmer of the Great Lakes and adding a touch of mystical elegance to the rustic wood finish.
